Boys’ indoor track


Four months after winning the state title in cross country, St. Xavier’s Brian Long won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:08.21 - the best in the Louisville area during the indoor season. St. X won the team title with 52 points, three better than Male.

Justin Green led Male, winning the 55 meters in a season-best 6.52 seconds and running with the first-place 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams. Green, Juan Garrett, Jeremy Fugate and Kieran Story won the 800 in 1:35.24, and Green, Garrett, Lewis Dodson and Michael Hayes won the 1,600 in 3:32.63.

Jeffersontown’s Joshua Brooks won both the long jump (19 feet, 9.5 inches) and the triple jump (44 feet, 3 inches).

Eastern’s Ronald Barlow won the 400 meters in 51.03 seconds.

Manual’s Jon Erickson won the 800 meters in 2:01.56.


Christian Academy won the 800-meter relay in 1:39.73 with Chris Tatum, Jon Derry, Dan Ross, and Ben Price.

Girls’ indoor track


Ballard won both the 800- and 1,600-meter relays and edged Butler 66-64 for the team title. Chepiphany Stephenson, Jazzmin Jeter, Lutisha Bowen and Shene Quick won the 800 in 1:48.61, and Jeter, Molly Dean, Tyler Farley, and Shelby Wagenseller won the 1,600 in a season-best 4:14.16. Bowen also won the triple jump at 33 feet, 5.75 inches.

Tiffany Rogers, Chelsea Brown, and Jade Miles each won an event for Butler. Rogers prevailed in the 55 meters in a season-best 7.27 seconds; Brown took the 400 meters in 60.16 seconds; and Miles leaped 16 feet, 4 inches for the long jump title.

Manual’s Colleen Campbell, whose run in the state cross country meet led Manual to the title in November, won the 1,500 meters in a season-best 4:56.74.

Assumption’s Adrienne Curtis won the 3,000 meters in 11:20.66, and the Rockets also won the 3,200-meter relay in 10:20.45 with Whitney Shipman, Hillary Raidt, Bethany Lega, and Allison Riedling.


Western’s LaEssence Buckner won the 55 meters in 7.46 seconds.


Christian Academy’s Morgan Reed won both the 55 meters in 7.62 seconds and the long jump with her leap of 15 feet, 3 inches.
