The Sacred Heart Academy field hockey team was honored again on Wednesday when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced that Liz Lewis had been voted the Dita/NFHCA High School West Region Coach of the Year.
Lewis guided the Valkyries to a state championship in October, completing an unbeaten season over 28 games. She has accumulated a 74-3-1 record in three years as Sacred Heart’s head coach. She is a candidate for National Coach of the Year, which will be awarded at the NFHCA Coaches Luncheon in Baltimore on Jan. 5.
Also, senior goalkeeper Brittany Miller was voted a Penn Monto/NFHCA High School All-American on Monday, she and teammate Anna Middleton were voted to the Penn Monto/NFHCA High School West Region team last Thursday, and the Valkyries recently were ranked No. 6 in TopOfTheCircle.com’s postseason list of the top 50 high school teams in the country.
