The Louisville-based International Field Hockey Club of Kentucky (IFHCK) entered five teams in the National Hockey Festival in Indio, Calif., over the Thanksgiving break, and one of them won its pool and three others placed second in their respective pools.
IFHCK Dynamic won its pool in the under-19 age group, posting a 4-1-1 record for 13 points. The Spirit Eagles Red (Chatham, N.J.) also had 13 points, but IFHCK Dynamic prevailed in a tie-breaker.
A tie-breaker cost IFHCK Spirit first place in its under-16 pool, which h2o (Bel Air, Md.) won. Both teams had a 4-1-1 record and 13 points.
IFHCK Thunder didn’t lose in six games in its under-19 pool, finishing 4-0-2 for 14 points, but the Maryland Breakers (Pasadena, Md.) won with a 5-0-1 record and 15 points. And IFHCK Pegasus went 3-2-1 for 10 points in its under-16 pool.
The festival, which organizing body USA Field Hockey calls “the world’s largest amateur field hockey event,” began on Thursday and ended on Saturday. All games were played at Empire Polo Club.
