Five locals named to All-Region team

Assumption High School’s Christine Brightwell, Karah Nall and Lauren Schmeing and state champion Sacred Heart Academy’s Anna Middleton and Brittany Miller all were selected to the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association High School All-Region teams that were announced on Thursday.
Those five standouts from the two Louisville powerhouses, which have won five of the last six state titles, were placed on the 16-player West team that also includes states as distant as California.
Brightwell, Nall, Middleton and Miller are seniors. Schmeing is a junior.
The Penn Monto/NFHCA High School All-American teams will be announced on Monday.
