One of the few lulls during the torrential rains over the last two days was quite timely for the relatively small band of runners who gathered in Bernheim Forest for the Heart and Sole of Bullitt County 5K on Saturday morning.
A little more than 100 people completed the five-kilometer course through the forest, and Tim Kaiser led the way to the finish line. He won the race in 15:18.85, with Andrew Danner right behind him in 15:20.85. Brian Hurst was a distant third in 15:46.80.
Jen Alessandro was the women's winner with a time of 17:58.98, well ahead of runner-up Sharon Shepherd's 18:41.93.
The complete results are available here, but it should be noted that some people are believed to have been directed off course by a park employee and thus ran almost a mile less than five kilometers (3.1 miles).
